There are days when I have picture upon picture to choose from for my picture of the day. Then there are days like today when I have been working/sleeping/otherwise occupied and don’t get a chance to go out and get a decent picture. I was between a rock and a hard place on the picture front until my mum thankfully came to my rescue. The simple explanation for this picture is that the door stop is a little dog whose tail was jammed in the door. My mum, unaware of the tail situation opened the door, pulled the dog and hey presto, tail dissection
Looking at the dog and its poor tail made me think about all the little knick-knacks that we have kicking about in our houses. In my flat my walls were covered with ticket stubs as I have already illustrated, while surfaces had on them scrap books, framed photographs, pretty bottles and all manner of things that I have no reason to keep. Why keep them? My room in my flat is very petite and to be honest I don’t really have the luxury of giving away space to trinkets and bric a brac.
I am faced with somewhat of a dilemma on this front. In preparation for moving to France I have started to pack up all my belongings into a few suitcases. I have space for clothes and books, towels and bedding yet I still feel that somehow I need to find space for all my clutter too! I mean, I don’t always look at it and to be honest I don’t really notice that it is there but all that stuff is my stuff.
I might not appreciate these things when I am surrounded by them but I would be acutely aware should they be taken away. The majority of things are kept for neither rhyme nor reason but it makes my little room feel more like home.So even if it means a few less “essentials”, my clutter is coming with me – especially the heart shaped bell 😀
